Laser and light

Hair, sun and redness.

Two treatments, both done by our nurse practitioner on a device with settings for every skin tone. That last part is not a given, so we say it.

Hair

Laser hair removal

Light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and heats the follicle so it stops producing. Hair grows in cycles, so it takes six to eight sessions, four to six weeks apart, to catch all of it.

  • Safe on all skin tones with the correct wavelength and settings, which we have and use
  • Feels like a rubber band snap with cooling; a small area takes fifteen minutes
  • From $95 per session for a small area (lip, chin, underarms) to $295 for a large one (full legs, back)
  • Shave the area the day before; do not wax for four weeks before

Sun and redness

Photofacial

Broad-spectrum light that targets brown (sun spots, freckling) and red (broken capillaries, rosacea flushing) without touching the skin around them. Spots darken for a few days, then flake away.

  • Two or three sessions, a month apart, then one a year to maintain
  • $275 per session for the face; $375 for face and neck
  • Not for tanned skin: come in the months you are not in the sun
